Been thinking about that a lot. I’ve like 2 months playing it, not much. Maybe 1-2 hours/day, somedays not at all. I can say my real life(social life) is up to everything here. Don’t wanna get too involved, like i did with ConquerOnline for about 4 years.

Here are a few fact why it might be addicting (from my point of view, of course):

1. Quest system is one of the best i ever saw. This is addicting !

2. The value of everything, from low level potions till high level best items is constant. This is a good part cause market won’t be overloaded by items and peoples be in the lack of gold. Even at 1:1 rate, you can manage around lvl 4x-5x to have almost a full epic gear. Why is this dangerous ? Cause peoples will always go try get more and more money. This means they gotta be logged.

3. The method to get best items is to get honor points, do instances and raids. To do this, you’ll need to spend some time in the battle areas, from the moment you got like lvl 60 till long after level 70.

4. Can be play hardly if not teaming up (unless you’re a farmer). Teaming up makes the players stay longer as they have fun, discuss more, level toghether…

This might be reasons, but even the deveopers announce us when we log into the game “Don’t forget to take your friends outside Azeroth also.” which leads me to the conclusion that they knew already how addicting this could be. But, in fact, it’s not only WoW who got this kinda problems. Every major MMORPG got it’s addicting parts and adicted peoples. Can’t change that.

How you can not become addicted ? Simple, take it easy, make friends but count more on the ones around you in real life. Don’t push it to hard, all things will just flow easly. Go beer, cofee, clubs, vacations, with friends, girls…
